The Amos Robinson House ca 1785 is the oldest recorded residence in Northfield. Amos was the first settler of Northfield and choose a most advantageous site for his farmstead. Excellent southern exposure, abundant water from a natural spring, well drained soils, productive woodlands. Over the years, the farmstead proved to be most productive with it's fertile fields providing prosperity to the Robinson family. As the family grew a full cape style house was added to the original residence. Through careful stewardship over the years a great deal of original fabric was retained, including wide pine wainscoting, wide pine flooring, original fireplace with bake oven, window and door trim. All of which give the farmhouse a great sense of antiquity while supporting the best state of the art systems. There are 4 bedrooms including a first floor master suite, a country kitchen with adjacent dining room. A large living room is in addition to the family room. The second floor bedrooms are spacious with great antique detailing. The present owners have built an impressive post and beam bank barn that has three turnout stalls and hay store on the upper level accessed by a high drive. The well managed fields include hay fields, fenced pasture and a riding ring. The woodlands have also been well managed providing much of the timbers for the barn.
