Underhill Vermont

Underhill is uniquely situated on the "rock rib" of Vermont (the Green Mountain Range), and the town boundary includes the undeveloped western slope of Mount Mansfield, the highest mountain in Vermont.

From the time the earliest settlers arrived in the spring of 1786, the settlement grew out along the valleys and along rivers and streams. One area is called The Flats while the eastern portion parallel to Mt. Mansfield is called Underhill Center. These two areas are almost like separate towns due to the geographical constraints of mountains, hills, and water.
